Hello All,

I'm very excited to announce that we've locked in the date and place for this year's ISOCAN Conference.

It will be held on Saturday, Aug 16 at the Holiday Inn in Naperville Illinois. for those that attended last year's Friday Night Spa Party, it is the same place as that and the hotel.

More info will be coming soon, I wanted to post the date and place so you can mark that on your calendar and start planning!!

I hope you can join us again this year, we're busily planning demos and vendors.

Hello everyone, I hope all of you enjoyed the convention as much as I did, it was such a blast to see so many familiar faces as well as meeting new people! At the closing of the convention, I had so many people approached me and already signing up to be in next year's convention either to demo or volunteer! That was such a beautiful thing that so many of you are willing to share with the rest of us! Thank you!!!Although we are sending out the thank you cards that you help signed at the convention, but please feel free to also send an email to the contributing suppliers, on-site suppliers and especially the ISOCAN convention sponsor Mike Lawson from Columbus Foods to thank them for their generosity and support for our event. I encourage all of you to patronize these businesses and please do let them know that you were one of the attendees of the ISOCAN Convention.

2007 Preorders, NEW ITEMS, and Demo

Hi everyone!

Just a quick reminder that tomorrow (Wednesday, 8/8) is the last day for preorders to be guaranteed delivery on Saturday. Use code ILL10 when you checkout for the 10% discount! :)

Also, some of our new items have arrived already! We now have Polysorbate 20 and 80, Cetyl Alcohol, and Emulsifying Wax for your toiletries and other creations, and new bottles as well -- 80 and 120 ml aluminum bullets, and 2, 4, and 8 oz. Cosmo Ovals. But the new item I'm most excited about is an Oak Court Creations exclusive -- our new Crystal Heat Transfers for soapers (chandler versions soon to follow!) Here's a preview of the first one in the line which I'll have available for purchase on Saturday - you guys are going to be the first ones to see these!!

The graphics don't do them justice.... these are sparkling rhinestone-like crystals, applied to a clear heat transfer backing material that allows them to be ironed on to t-shirts, tote bags, aprons, etc. with either a home iron or a heat press. You can put them on any color shirt -- they look best on medium to dark colors, where they really pop, but they sparkle no matter what the background color is! :o) These are going to be $15 each on our website, but they'll be only $12 on special on Saturday. AND - we'll have a heat press with us, so if you want to bring a blank shirt/tote/apron/whatever (prewashed in case it shrinks), we'll iron it on for you for no charge! There are simple instructions included if you prefer to take it home and iron it on yourself. Once this initial order is depleted, it will take us 3-4 weeks to bring them back into stock, so come see me early on Saturday (or put in your dibs on Friday night at the party! LOL). I don't have these up on the website yet, so they aren't eligible for the preorder discount.

I have my demo ready to go - we'll be making Moisturizing Body Spray and Linen Spray - but right now, I have NO VOICE due to bronchitis, so I may have to use a translator and/or "cue cards" instead of talking. LOL You'll be able to take home a sample of one of the sprays and the recipes, even if I can't talk. I'll also have a make-and-take area in my booth so you can play at making an AromaArt™ Air Freshener to take home with you. Those of you who know me, know that this is absolutely killing me not to be able to talk. But we'll make the best of it! :o) I've got goodies from the health food store and lots of info from online, and will do everything I can to have enough voice to do the demo on Saturday.

Hey there everyone! I just wanted to let you know about our menu for the convention.
It is going to be catered by "Chef's Corner" in Naperville. Our menu is all homemade and will be prepared by Chef Vaded Vasilj, former chef for The United Center in Chicago.
He makes phenomenal food with a bit of Mediterranean/European flair.

Continental breakfast will include:
coffee, tea, juice
bagels w/cream cheese, muffins, pastries
fresh fruit

Lunch will include:
Bread tray, Cold Cut tray, Cheese tray
Roasted vegetables
Soup (yummy beef barley for sure/unknown other variety-will be daily special)
Scrumptious Mediterranean salad (feta cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, red pepper, variety of lettuce and spinach)

Kitty, Kerry and I have dined there recently and let me tell you.........he is a WONDERFUL Chef....It is yummy tasty food. So if you live nearby and haven't tried this place yet, you might want to give it a try. You are missing a treat. He also makes homemade frozen custard that is to DIE FOR!

Amy Brooks
Have you ever wondered how to make layered soaps? Not only is Amy going to show us how to layer CP soaps, she will show us her technique on how to make dimensional layers! Her layers are perfectly done, they are art in soap form :)

The "Mud Queen" will be there to show you everything you need to know about her products that include dead sea mud and Sensitive Skin Mineral Peat Mud Masque! You will love her products and what they can do for your skin.

Everything but the Bathroom Sink! -Swap

We are offering a swap for all interested participants. The swap will be open to everyone attending for soap, candles, lotions, scrubs, lip balms, etc. Anyone can join in the fun! We will have it in groups of 8 people, which means you are only committed to bringing 7 items. There will not be a limit to the number of groups we have as long as we have people interested. No shipping involved so here's your chance to see what others enjoy making without any additional cost. All you need to do is sign up, bring your 7 items with you to the convention, drop them off to me and I'll get them sorted out so you have 7 new goodies to take back home with you. We will set up a table at the convention to display all swap items from each group.

If you've never been involved in a swap before, here's your chance to see what it's all about! To sign up for this swap you can leave a comment to this post with your name and what you will be making or you can email me with that info. I just want to make sure we have an array if items in each group and not all candles or soaps. Anyone wanting to sign up for mutiple groups let me know. Things are falling into place, and I've received many generous donation inquiries as well as volunteers offering their time and efforts for this convention!! This is going to be a fun and exciting convention.

I have lived in Naperville for over 9 years before moving to our current house 6 months ago, it was sad for me to move but we are only one suburb away!

Plenty to do here, from shopping to gourmet food! Don't forget to check out Heaven On Seven, one of my favorite hang out, yummy gumbo!

Naperville has a museum village which records the area's history from its early days to the late 1900s. The chapel at the the museum is a very popular place for "tying the knot". . Summer hours are: April through October Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, 1-4 p.m. . The sculpture is entitled "Horse Market Days" and is outside the Pre-Exemption House -- the first tavern and inn west of Chicago.

I just spoke to Holiday Inn, they are going to give us a group rate of $89 per night. I asked them to block it for 2 nights - 8/10 and 8/11, should you need more than one night stay.

I made about 25 phone calls today to different places like churches, hotels and schools!! Finally we are getting somewhere, Kerry will be going over to two places tomorrow to check out the facility and hopefully find something suitable!

Cross your fingers, we should know something real soon... (crossing fingers and toes for this one lol!)

Illinois Soap Conference

Hey all,

Kerry, and I are actively looking for a venue to hold the Illinois Soap Conference, if you know of any place that will hold a small amount of people (30-50?) please let us know! We are aiming for a small conference and will need volunteers to assist with the following areas before and at the gathering, your time and efforts to make this a "go" are greatly appreciated!

Venue - Find and assist with locating a venue, getting pricing info for the venue (church, rental hall, golf club, park district community room etc)

Speakers / Demos - Find speakers and demos to be presented for the conference, topics: soaps, lotions, mineral make-up, marketing, packaging and let's not forget candles!

Attendees check-in table - A couple of people to be at the check-in table the day of the conference, check attendees in and provide them with the day's program and their goodie bag.

Conference Crews - Our own Illinois Convention Crew the day of the conference, where you will "meet and greet" the attendees and also the speakers

Catering - Find caterer, work out the menu and pricing info
Goodie Bags Organizer - be the first to see what's going into the goodie bags! You will be helping to organize the goodie bags content by separating them and putting them into the goodie bags. Aug 4th is the "Volunteer Party", please apply to this position only if you can commit to that day from 12:00 until we are finished. (appromiately 4-5 hours, it depends on the number of donations and attendees).

Event Scheduler - Schedule speakers and demos
Convention Program Designer - Are you good with publisher? you can help us design and layout the convention program to be handed out to attendees.

Goodie bags / Door prizes / Sponsors - Assist by sending out emails and making phone calls to potential companies to donate for the goodie bags, door prizes or be a sponsor for the conference
Contests - Organize contests

Swap - Organize swaps

Photographer - You don't have to be a professional photographer to hold take on this task! However, you do have to be able to take pictures all through out the day, compile the pictures and upload it to a pre-determined section of the site, post comments about the pictures etc. We are looking for 2-3 people to take on this task.

The Volunteers Party is set for Aug 4 (the same day as the goodie bag organizing day), all volunteers are invited to attend. We will go over the schedules and work out any items to be completed by the big day on Aug 11 and more importantly, to thank each and everyone of you for the hard work you have put in to make this a successful convention!
